SweetMedievalThere is a great Castle Located in Germany. It is White washed, and often used in several Screen savers. I remember it has hundreds of towers, and I know not the name of it.Can anyone help me find the name and possibly a picture of it?

Peter Esser(I think I got a vague idea of what this castle could be…)
Peter EsserTry Castle Quest -> Individual castles -> Questions about Schloss Neuschwanstein …
SweetMedievali did find it. King Ludwig II built it just before the fall of the German Monarch. I want a house like that man.
thanks

Please think it over again. The interior can make anybody depressive…

Better you take this one:

This is the castle the Bavarian (great difference!) King was thinking off when he built Schloss Neuschwanstein.

No cheap effects … its the original …

SweetMedievalPeter,
You are right, Wartburg is fabulous. I really admire castles that sit upon mountain hills. There's just something Majestic about them. I have heard that nearly no castles are inhabited by resdidents anymore, because the upkeep is too costly. I can imagine. What about building a mini-castle, a modern version, of a castle, only toned down in size. Fit enough to put on about 2 or 3 acres of ground, surrounded by woods. Here in Pennsylvania, that would be idea. That's my dream. ~Denise

Peter EsserYeah!

For me this was always a dream …

Guess you will like Burg Eltz (pronounced like "else"), which is a mountain-situated castle – and one of the last inhabited, too …

Erik SchmidtHi Sweet M,
I also dream of building a castle, but not to live in. The real ones are not good for that, and I want to build a 'real' one.

There are in fact many people who live in castles. Some are totally private while others are museums open to the public and the caretakers live in a part of the castle.

Another nice castle is Chillon, in Switzerland; http://www.swisscastles.ch/Vaud/chillon/default.htm

Erik

SweetMedievalWow both the Burg Eltz and the Château de Chillon are excellent examples of the type of castles I love. I really would like to build a smaller version of one. Although I have to find a good man to help someday, lol. And a Very talented carpenter, masonry worker, brick layer, and sooo on. LoL.

Erik SchmidtAll you need to replicate an authentic castle is to build a tower and a small surrounding wall with a gate. Then put a small domestic building against the wall somewhere.
The Cathars built 4 small castles along a ridge at Lastours, in southern France; http://www.cathares.org/lastours.html

There are many other examples around.

Erik
